Forensic accounting and dirty money will be some of the themes of the ICAEWs Litigation Support Groups Annual Conference, which takes place at The Regents Park Marriott Hotel on 20th May in London. It will be repeated on 22nd May at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Leeds.

The conference will update those who work in both civil and criminal arenas on the latest developments in forensic accounting, and the seminars will be on money laundering, forensic IT, practitioners’ update, economic crime and a skills workshop. Peter Silk FCA will host the conference, which has Dr Evan Bell as its keynote speaker, who will give a talk entitled A New Focus on Dirty Money. Dr Bell is the Senior Legal Assistant at the Department of the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland.

Other topics are fraud and organised crime, expert witnesses, the forensic accountants’ art, investigative interviewing and personal injury.

This two-venue event is a first for the profession and has been organised as a result of a high demand to have up-to-the-minute briefings on forensic accounting. It aims to raise awareness and alert the profession to the proposed new money laundering regulations issued by HM Treasury which will come into force on 1st June 2003.
