Freshfields Lawyers – Cardpoint and Alphyra to Merge – UK Business

3 October 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm News Wire – The boards of UK cashpoint machine operator Cardpoint plc and its Irish counterpart alphyra Holdings Limited have announced that they have agreed the terms of a merger to create a leading European consumer payments and cash distribution group. The parent company of the resulting group will be a newly incorporated company called Payzone plc and will be headquartered and domiciled in Ireland and listed on AIM.

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is advising Cardpoint and Payzone. The team was led by corporate partner Farah Ispahani with corporate partner Gareth Stephenson, corporate senior associates Sheena Singla and Graham Watson and corporate associate Shahab Uddin; plus employment pensions and benefits partner Kathleen Healy and senior associates Liz Pierson and Harriet Maurice-Williams; antitrust competition and trade partner Simon Priddis; tax partner Jonathan Cooklin and associate David Stainer; and finance senior associate Tazim Hall.
