The Lawyers Alliance Cornerstone Awards recognize outstanding contributions by volunteers on behalf of the nonprofit organizations served by Lawyers Alliance. The awards will be presented at a reception in New York City on November 19, 2003.

Holland & Knight’s New York Executive Partner Jason Brown said, “We congratulate Andrea Marshall for this prestigious recognition by the Lawyers Alliance for New York. To be among the impressive list of honorees is evidence of Andrea’s extraordinary dedication to New Yorkers in need and enhances our firm’s professional duty to provide those who cannot afford it with free legal services. This honor is particularly significant for our firm as our own senior partner Randal Robert Craft, Jr. was a founder and the second chairman of the Council of New York Law Associates, now renamed the Lawyers Alliance for New York.”

The recipients of the 2003 Cornerstone Awards include two institutions and 12 individuals whose pro bono legal work for not-for-profit organizations has set a superior standard for volunteer service by business lawyers in New York City. Ms. Marshall is being honored “For the legal work that enabled the Tier II Coalition, a consortium of New York City not-for-profit organizations serving the homeless, to merge with another nonprofit, the Association of Service Providers for Homeless Adults.”

Holland & Knight Partner Christopher Kelly, explains, “Andrea is receiving the award for a pro bono project of more than two years duration and in which by patience, acumen, and sheer force of will, she merged two struggling not-for-profit corporations into one, stronger and more capable unit. Today, that organization is effectively serving the needs of the growing number of economically dispossessed and homeless in New York City.”
