UK-based Holman Fenwick has taken the entire team of Lord Locke in Hong Kong, which places a cloud over the future of the Texas-based Lord Locke’s Asian future.
Nine lawyers and paralegals have made the move, who follow the former Lord Locke managing partner in Hong Kong, Wing Cheung, who left to join Holman Fenwick earlier this month.
The team handle corporate finance, IPOs and M&A work, handling some major deals in Hong Kong
Matthew Wong (above) had been with Lord Locke for over six years, joining the firm with Cheung who had joined his own firm of Cheung & Lee to Lord Locke.
“This major hire and Wing’s earlier arrival represents a step-change to our transactional capabilities in Greater China,” said Patrick Yeung, Holman Fenwick’s Hong Kong office head, in a statement.
Richard Crump, Holman Fenwick’s Singapore-based global senior partner, added that the group hire is an important step in the continued growth of the firm’s global corporate and finance offerings.
“Our transactional capabilities have changed beyond all recognition in recent years, and we are actively seeking additional opportunities in key markets around the world,” he said.
