About the new partners

Kamal Shah joined Stephenson Harwood in 2006 from Hunton & William where he was a senior associate in the commercial arbitration and litigation practice. He trained and qualified at Denton Wilde Sapte. Kamal is a leading arbitration specialist and has been a key part of the development of the international arbitration group at Stephenson Harwood which includes lawyers from the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore offices. Kamal Shah has advised governments, state and private corporations, energy companies, law firms, not-for-profit organisations and high net worth individuals on high profile and complex arbitrations often spanning across several jurisdictions. With a special interest in India and Africa, Kamal has been appointed a Board Member of the “Next Generation UK India Network” and, working closely with the Africa Legal Network, he is advising Nigeria’s national oil company, NNPC, in defending attempts to enforce, in London, a US$200m+ arbitration award made against the company.

Rovine Chandrasekera joined Stephenson Harwood as a trainee and qualified in 2000. Rovine is a shipping litigation lawyer specialising in ship demolition, commodities and international trade and charterparty/bill of lading disputes.
