Carl Salisbury Joins New York Office

NEW YORK (March 11) -Lawfuel.com Lawyer News- Kilpatrick Stockton LLP announced today the addition of partner Carl Salisbury to its growing and nationally-recognized Insurance Recovery Team. Mr. Salisbury joins Kilpatrick Stockton’s expanding New York office from Killian & Salisbury, P.C. The burgeoning New York office also recently added three new associates.

With the addition of Mr. Salisbury, the firm has nearly 30 attorneys firmwide devoted to the Insurance Recovery Team. Mr. Salisbury’s addition comes just a few months after partners Barry Fleishman and Erica Dominitz joined the Insurance Recovery Team in Washington, DC from Dickstein Shapiro LLP.

Mr. Salisbury, who was selected as a Best Lawyer in America for 2010 in the area of insurance law, has successfully represented businesses in numerous complex disputes, with a particular focus on insurance and trade secret matters. He has served as trial counsel in numerous high-profile cases, including Stanley Roberts v. Alco Industries. Inc. (theft of trade secrets lawsuit in which the Court adopted a novel approach to damages — applying plaintiff’s profit margin to defendant’s sales); U.S. Servis v. St Barnabas Medical Center (fee dispute on behalf of a company that manages out-patient receivables); and Merck & Co. v. Federal Insurance Co. (environmental coverage case which settled following trial on very favorable terms for the policyholder). Mr. Salisbury also has expertise in the area of mediation, and has served as a dispute mediator for the Town of Westfield, where he served in the past as a Town Councilman. Mr. Salisbury is a Member of the District XII Fee Arbitration Committee, which arbitrates attorney-¬client fee disputes.

He is a sought-after lecturer on the nuances of insurance coverage and trade secret law, and has conducted seminars for a variety of business groups on the subject, including the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey Commerce & Industry Association. Mr. Salisbury is the author of “Pollution Liability Insurance Coverage, The Standard ¬Form Pollution Exclusion, and the Insurance Industry: A Case Study in Collective Amnesia”, which appeared in the Environmental Law Review of the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College, and has been cited as authority by various state Supreme Courts. He is a member of the New Jersey, New York and American Bar Associations.

Mr. Salisbury earned his JD from Wake Forest University School of Law where he was Managing Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of New Hampshire. Following law school, Mr. Salisbury served as a law clerk to Judge Reynaldo G. Garza of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
