Kilpatrick Stockton today announces the addition of six associates to its Winston-Salem office. With these additions, the Firm further enhances its strength in litigation, intellectual property and patent prosecution and its commercial real estate and corporate transactions areas.
Mr. Shannon Elliotte joins Kilpatrick Stockton’s Winston-Salem office from the Firm’s Charlotte office. His practice is focused on transactional tax planning and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, startups and executive compensation issues relating to stock options and other forms of equity compensation. A large part of Mr. Elliotte’s practice also involves lifetime estate planning, estate administration and business succession planning for closely held business owners and other high net worth individuals. Prior to joining Kilpatrick Stockton, Mr. Elliotte practiced with another Charlotte law firm in the areas of tax and estate planning.
In 1997, Mr. Elliotte received an LL.M. in Taxation from the Boston University School of Law. He received his J.D., from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 1996, where he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board. In 1993, Mr. Elliotte graduated from Western Carolina University where he received his B.S.B.A. in Economics, cum laude. Mr. Elliotte is admitted to the State Bar of North Carolina and the U.S. Tax Court.
Ms. Laura Abernethy Greer will focus her practice on commercial litigation. She graduated from Marshall University in 1999 with a B.S. in Biology, summa cum laude, and received her J.D., cum laude, in 2003 from Wake Forest University School of Law.
Mr. J. Clinton Wimbish will focus his practice on patent prosecution in the chemical and biochemical area with special emphasis on polymer, solid state, and transition metal technologies. Mr. Wimbish graduated in 1998 from the University of North Carolina with a B.S. in Chemistry, with Distinction. He received a Master of Arts in Chemistry from Princeton University in 2000, and received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2003.
Mr. James J. Hefferan, Jr. will focus his practice on litigation. He graduated in 1999 from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science, with highest distinction. Mr. Hefferan received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2003 from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Wake Forest Law Review and a member of the Orders of the Coif. While in law school, he was the recipient of the West Publishing Company Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement and the A. J. Fletcher Law Scholarship.
Mr. C. Edward Teague, III will focus his practice on commercial real estate and corporate transactions. He has extensive experience in the ownership and management of a successful, multi-location retail business, including site acquisition, financial organization, strategic planning, and administration. Mr. Teague graduated in 1995 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Political Science, and received an MBA from the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Management in 2002. He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University in 2002.
Mr. Bret T. Winterle will focus his practice on patent prosecution and patent litigation in the areas of mechanical, electrical and computer technologies. He is a registered Patent Agent, having successfully completed the Patent Registration Exam in April of 2003. Mr. Winterle graduated from Iowa State University in 2000 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, with distinction, and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2003.
