BOSTON– LAWFUEL – Legal Announcements –Even in the grips of a financial crisis, terrorism and national security rank consistently among American voters’ top concerns. On Oct. 15, 16 and 20, King’s College London, one the top 25 universities in the world, will host a series of panel debates addressing what’s ahead for American foreign policy, the War on Terror, and the future of both under a McCain or Obama administration.
The debates, which will take place in New York, Boston and Washington, D.C., will offer unique international perspectives on the War on Terror from renowned scholars, military personnel and civilian security professionals.
“With the economic situation and a new U.S. president on the horizon, the future of the War on Terror is uncertain,” said Sir Lawrence Freedman, author and professor of war studies and vice-principal at King’s College London. “We’ll be discussing the many angles that impact the war from the outside, as well as how those changes will affect the global community.”
The panel debate series occurs around the time of the final presidential debate, with the debate commencing just after the New York panel on Oct. 15. The panelists will incorporate issues from the presidential debates into their discussions, offering an exclusive opportunity to hear expert analysis of controversial campaign issues like homeland security and U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.
Chaired by Martin Bashir, ABC Nightline Anchor and 20/20 correspondent, the debates will be by moderated by Dr. Peter Neumann, director of International Centre for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence (ICSR) at King’s College London. Featured panel experts include: Peter Bergen, CNN chief terrorism analyst; Brig. Gen. (ret.) Russell Howard, faculty associate for Asian security and international terrorism at the University of Montana; and Richard Falkenrath, former homeland security adviser to President George W. Bush.
