Pittsburgh – LawFuel.com – The partners of global law firm K&L Gates LLP have voted to elect the following 50 lawyers to the firm’s partnership, effective March 1, 2015.
James Culverwell, Jason Drori, and Mackenzie Shea were named partners in K&L Gates’ Boston office. Culverwell focuses his practice on patent portfolio development, patent litigation, and IP licensing; Drori advises clients on complex commercial disputes; and Shea concentrates on bankruptcy and insolvency matters.
Carty Bibee and Joshua Reeves were named partners in the Charleston office. Bibee focuses his practice on negotiated business combinations and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. Reeves’ practice includes commercial real estate, hospitality and timeshare, financing transactions, and real estate development matters.
In Charlotte, John Blair and Emily Zimmer were named partners. Blair counsels clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and mezzanine finance transactions, and general corporate law matters, while Zimmer advises on a wide range of employee benefit and executive compensation issues, including those related to corporate mergers and acquisitions.
Matthew Dicke, Rachel Guzowski, Christopher Hanba, and Rita Rubin are new partners in the firm’s Chicago office. Dicke and Guzowski are members of the IP procurement and portfolio management practice, where Dicke focuses on patent prosecution, opinion work, and patent litigation and licensing, while Guzowski concentrates on patent portfolio counseling, due diligence, and domestic and international patent prosecution. Hanba advises on intellectual property litigation, focusing on patent-related issues in the areas of networking and the software arts. Rubin counsels in the investment management area, including the representation of open-end and closed-end investment companies, investment company boards of directors, investment advisers, and service providers.
In Dallas, Alfred Cheng, Clayton Falls, and Jordan Klein were named partners. Cheng concentrates on outsourcing, technology, and commercial contracts. Falls advises a broad range of clients on complex commercial litigation; and Klein represents lenders, financial institutions, and borrowers on complex credit transactions and pre-bankruptcy loan workouts.
Kirk Durrant was named partner in the firm’s Doha office, where he counsels on a variety of issues within the construction industry.
Nazanin Aleyaseen, Simon Mabin, and Rabih Tabbara are new partners in the Dubai office. A member of the firm’s international arbitration practice, Aleyaseen also advises clients on labor, employment and workplace safety matters. Mabin counsels on a wide range of conventional and Islamic financing transactions, and Tabbara centers his practice on dispute resolution, with a particular focus on complex cross-border litigation.
In Hong Kong, Sacha Cheong was named partner. Cheong advises on complex commercial disputes as well as white collar crime, employment, and construction/infrastructure matters.
James Spencer and Tom Wallace were named partners in the firm’s London office. A member of the banking & asset finance group, Spencer focuses on real estate finance, senior-subordinate structures, and commercial mortgage backed securities transactions. Wallace advises public and private companies on corporate finance matters and cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
Michaela Moloney is a new labor, employment and workplace safety partner in the Melbourne office, where she advises clients on drafting employment agreements and policies, employee discipline and termination, and corporate due diligence matters.
In Miami, Elisa D’Amico, Karen Finesilver, and John Owens III were named partners. D’Amico assists clients with complex litigation issues, and is co-founder of the firm’s Cyber Civil Rights Legal Project. Finesilver represents clients on contract disputes, noncompetition and trade secret misappropriation cases, joint venture and class action disputes, and employment discrimination cases. A member of the emerging growth and venture capital practice, Owens advises investors and entrepreneurs on forming and operating businesses, buying and selling companies, raising capital through private and public offerings, and complying with federal securities laws.
Calvina Bostick and Sarah Kenney were named partners in the New York office. Bostick focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, and general corporate and securities matters. Kenney represents clients in a wide array of litigation matters and has argued before federal and state trial courts in New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Marina Solo is a new partner in the firm’s Newark office, where she represents private and public companies in the areas of general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, health law, life sciences, and technology law.
Stan Lewandowski was named partner in K&L Gates’ Palo Alto office. He counsels emerging businesses on issues including venture capital financing, private offerings, intellectual property licensing, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, and day-to-day corporate governance.
In Pittsburgh, John Hagan, Jeffrey Meagher, Daniel Miller, and Megan Wotherspoon were named partners. Hagan and Meagher are both litigators practicing in the insurance coverage and commercial disputes areas with extensive experience in securing coverage for asbestos and environmental liabilities. Meagher also advises clients in the energy sector. Miller counsels on matters involving complex records preservation and collection issues, litigation holds, e-discovery, and records management and retention policies. Wotherspoon assists with mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, and corporate restructuring, formation, and governance matters.
Shiau Yen Chin-Dennis is a new partner in the firm’s Portland office, where she counsels on international corporate transactions including global market entry, operations and exit, mergers and acquisitions, post-acquisition integration, joint ventures, restructurings, and corporate governance.
In Raleigh, James Herriott and Mackenzie Morse were named partners. Both members of the corporate M&A practice, Herriott advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, securities, and general corporate and business matters, while Morse counsels on the purchase and sale of public and private companies, joint ventures and other complex commercial transactions, private equity investments, corporate governance, and commercial contracts.
Susan Hackney is a new health law partner in the firm’s Research Triangle Park office, where she advises on litigation and disputes within the health care arena, including certificate of need, licensing and certification matters, payment disputes, and medical staff privilege matters.
In San Francisco, Irene Yang is a new IP litigation partner. Experienced in the various phases of case management, Yang works with clients in the operating systems, computer networking, Internet software and e-commerce, semiconductors, and telecommunications sectors, among others.
In São Paulo, Juliana Araujo was named partner. Araujo works with the corporate M&A practice, where she leads complex cross-border transactions in various industries, including mining, energy, education, Internet, insurance, and banking.
Sarah Bowman, Rhys Hefta, and Ashley Miller were named partners in Seattle. Bowman’s practice includes estate planning, estate and trust administration, charitable planning, and resolving estate and trust disputes. Hefta advises clients on purchases, sales, and financing of real estate assets, including office, hospitality, retail, and multifamily properties. Miller’s experience includes zoning and planning matters, due diligence, brownfields redevelopment, environmental impact reviews, complex permitting, and regulatory compliance.
Max Xin Gu is a new partner in the firm’s Shanghai office, where he concentrates on cross-border business transactions, private equity investments, general corporate matters, food regulations, corporate compliance matters, and overseas public offerings.
Sebastian Smith was named partner in Singapore. Smith advises aviation clients such as leasing companies, financial institutions, export credit agencies, institutional lenders, and airlines on cross-border aircraft and ship finance and leasing transactions.
In Sydney, Danielle Funston was named partner. Funston has extensive experience in secured recoveries, liquidations, corporate restructuring, corporate litigation, and managed investment schemes as well as general corporate transactions.
Cheryl Hsieh is a new partner in Taipei, where she works on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, private equity and venture capital transactions, estate planning, and other general corporate and commercial matters.
Filip Urbaniak was named partner in the firm’s Warsaw office. Urbaniak is a corporate lawyer focusing on capital markets transactions.
In Washington, D.C., Andrew Edwin Porter and Kristina Zanotti were named partners. Porter counsels on government enforcement matters, regulatory counseling, and internal investigations, while Zanotti advises clients on employee benefits and derivatives transactions.
