Washington, D.C. – LAWFUEL – Legal Newswire – Sidley Austin LLP announced today that Richard Klingler has rejoined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the complex commercial litigation practice. Klingler left the firm in 2005 to serve in the Office of the Counsel to the President, concluding his service as Senior Associate Counsel to the President. From 2006 to 2007, he served as the National Security Council’s General Counsel and Legal Adviser.
Klingler’s practice at Sidley is focused on complex litigation in U.S. courts involving foreign parties or international disputes, national security matters and energy issues. He also has extensive litigation and regulatory experience working on behalf of telecommunications, finance and media clients.

Klingler holds a law degree from Stanford University, where he was Senior Articles Editor for the Stanford Law Review, and a B.A. from Oxford University, which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar. Mr. Klingler clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and Kenneth Starr of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. He has written on public policy matters for various publications.
