LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – US ex-astronaut Lisa Nowak, who is accused of assaulting another woman over a romantic spat, was allowed to remove her electronic monitoring bracelet Thursday ahead of her trial next month.

Nowak’s attorneys had argued that the bracelet was expensive — costing 105 dollars per month — as well as uncomfortable to wear and equipped with a noisy alarm.

Nowak complained that the noise that sounded when the batteries were low posed a danger while driving and that the bracelet prevented her from taking aerobics classes.

The judge ruled that Nowak, who has no prior criminal record, could remove the bracelet but was not to travel or have any contact with her ex-boyfriend or the woman she allegedly assaulted ahead of the September 24 trial.
