Leeds, Sheffield – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – DLA Piper was named ‘Corporate Law Firm of the Year’ for the first time at last night’s Yorkshire Insider Dealmaker Awards in Leeds.

The prestigious title is decided by votes from thousands of senior members of the Yorkshire corporate community, and DLA Piper won against a short list of nominees that included rival firms Addleshaw Goddard, Hammonds, Walker Morris, Pinsent Masons and Eversheds.

The awards ceremony, attended by more than 400 of the region’s leading bankers, accountants, venture capitalists, corporate lawyers and corporate financiers is held annually at the Royal Armories in Leeds.

Jonathan Procter and Wendy Harrison collected the award on behalf of the corporate teams in the Leeds and Sheffield offices who work together as the Yorkshire Corporate Group (YCG).

Leeds banking partner Sarah Day was also nominated for ‘Corporate Lawyer of the Year’, an award she won in 2004, the team was also nominated for ‘Deal of the Year’ for their groundbreaking work on the Sheffield Forgemasters MBO led by Neil Thompson.
