DALLAS – LAWFUEL – Legal Newswire – Haynes and Boone, LLP has been named a Top 100 Law Firm for Diversity by MultiCultural Law Magazine, and a Top 100 Law Firm for Women by the affiliated publication Women 3.0 for 2008.
The recognition highlights Haynes and Boones’ ongoing commitment to diversity and responsiveness to its evolving client base and a changing business marketplace. Recently, the firm ranked 72nd among a survey of the 250 largest U.S. law firms in percentage of minority lawyers and first among Texas–based firms. Currently, Haynes and Boone employs almost 500 lawyers from diverse backgrounds. Of those, 15 percent are ethnic minorities and 30 percent are women.

Haynes and Boone was also recognized as a Top 100 Law Firm for Diversity in 2005, in part for its attention to programs that promote minority opportunities in the legal profession. In 2002, for example, the firm established the Minority Scholars Program to reward outstanding minority law school students from the University of Texas and Southern Methodist University. Haynes and Boone scholars receive a monthly stipend, a summer clerkship at Haynes and Boone, and a mentor to provide guidance during the student’s first year in law school.
MultiCultural Law and Women 3.0 strive to promote and enhance the importance of continued success for minorities and women in the corporate circuit, focusing on lawyer retention, corporate profiles, and legal trends and information. The full list of honorees will be published in the respective magazines’ 5th Anniversary editions in March. Rankings were derived from the best 100 law firms who submitted survey results.
