LONDON – 27 August, 2004 – LAWFUEL – Best for law, law news, legal news, legal research Herbert Smith has advised Centrica on the UK’s first long-term LNG contract with ASEAN LNG Trading Company Limited, a subsidiary of Petronas.

The 15-year deal will deliver over 45 billion cubic metres of gas to British
Gas customers and could eventually represent a value in the region of £4
billion.

The gas will be delivered to Centrica via the new BG-Petronas-Petroplus
‘Dragon’ terminal at Milford Haven, South Wales.

John Geraghty commented:

“We were delighted to work with Ian Wood, Nick Lumley, Simon Sydenham,
Norman Wilson and Brian Hogg of Centrica on the UK’s first major LNG import
contract.”

The Herbert Smith team was led by partner Paul Griffin and assisted by John
Geraghty, Elin Davies and Simon Tysoe.
