Los Angeles County Bar Association Offers LifeLock Services to Members

TEMPE, Ariz.–LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire –LifeLock, the industry leader in identity theft prevention, has announced its first partnership with a bar association, the nation’s largest voluntary bar – the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA). The partnership will offer LACBA members and their families a discount on LifeLock’s monthly service to secure their identities.

“As the industry leader among bar associations, we are pleased that the Los Angeles County Bar Association has selected LifeLock’s identity theft prevention services as an additional benefit for their members,” said LifeLock CEO, Todd Davis. “While the many members of the LACBA are busy every day assisting their clients and improving their communities, our service will offer them a greater sense of security that their identities are safe.”

As the leader in identity theft prevention, LifeLock enables “locks” by setting and automatically renewing fraud alerts with the major credit bureaus, removing member names from pre-approved credit card offers and junk mail lists and guaranteeing the service with their industry-exclusive $1 million guarantee. Through LifeLock’s services, LACBA members can have peace of mind knowing that LifeLock is working on their behalf, protecting their identities from thieves.

The Los Angeles County Bar Association has been making a difference in the professional lives of lawyers, and in the lives of the people of Los Angeles County, for over 125 years. With more than 27,000 members, over 100 committees and sections, and a score of public service projects, the Los Angeles County Bar Association provides exceptional career resources for members.

“We are always looking for the best benefits that we can offer our members and the services offered by LifeLock are right in line with our plan,” said Tim Elliott, Chief Marketing Officer, Los Angeles County Bar Association. “We recognize the alarming growth of identity theft in the United States and the service that LifeLock provides can assist in keeping our members safe and secure.”

In February, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released its annual report highlighting that for the seventh consecutive year, identity theft tops the list of consumer complaints. The Los Angeles metropolitan area registered nearly 17,000 complaints with the FTC for identity theft in 2006, up more than 1,000 from 2005. More than 48,000 complaints have been filed with the FTC in the Los Angeles area since January 2004. In 2006 alone, identity theft cost Americans $1.1 billion dollars, the highest amount ever.
