Leading IP Litigator Brings Extensive Management Experience to New Role
Boston – Foley & Lardner LLP today announced the appointment of partner Matthew B. Lowrie as chair of its Intellectual Property Litigation practice group.
Lowrie focuses his practice in the areas of patent litigation, counseling and the patent acquisition process. With a strong technical background, Lowrie is knowledgeable in computer architecture, algorithms and software, analog and digital circuits, semiconductor design, telecommunications, consumer products and medical devices.
Prior to joining Foley in May 2009, Lowrie was a founding partner of Lowrie, Lando & Anastasi, LLP. He was also previously chair of the Litigation Practice Group at Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks.

Lowrie has a well-established litigation practice, representing clients in the U.S. and abroad on a wide range of matters, including those that require his distinctive understanding of electrical engineering, computer science and related technical issues. He has served as lead trial counsel in intellectual property cases in California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. Additionally, he has tried cases in the Court of Federal Claims and in front of the International Trade Commission.

Lowrie has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer for intellectual property. A frequent speaker and author, Lowrie is currently an adjunct professor at Suffolk University Law School, where he teaches patent law.
Lowrie replaces Foley partner Larry L. Shatzer, who served as Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice group for four years.
