Michael Vick Begins Jail Sentence Early With Another Apology To Fans

LAWFUEL – Legal Newswire – Former NFL star Michael Vick has begun serving his jail time for his involvement in running a dogfighting ring.

Vick’s dramatic fall from grace came with another apology for the hurt he has caused. His attorney, Billy Martin, said that Vick had turned himself into the US Marshals Service although his sentencing is not due until December 10.

Vick pleaded guilty in August to charges that he and three other men took part in an illegal dogfighting enterprise known as “Bad Newz Kennels” at the football star’s home in Surry County, Virginia.

The 27-year-old initially pleaded not guilty to the charges. He faces a maximum of five years in prison on the federal charges, although prosecutors have requested a 12- to 18-month sentence under terms of the plea deal he reached in August.
