OAKLAND – LAWFUEL – Crime News, Law Jobs – Larry Gene Elmore, 50, was sentenced today to 78 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of transporting child pornography, United States Attorney Scott N. Schools announced. According to court documents, Mr. Elmore chatted in an Internet chat room frequented by persons interested in incest with an undercover officer in South Carolina in March 2006, believing that the officer was the mother of two young children. During the chat, Mr. Elmore sent the undercover officer a 15-minute child pornography video over the Internet. Mr. Elmore subsequently engaged in a similar chat with an undercover sergeant in Contra Costa County, sent child pornography to that officer believing he was the mother of a young girl, and arranged a meeting. Mr. Elmore was arrested when he drove to the “mother’s” fictitious address in Martinez at the appointed meeting time.
Pursuant to the terms of his sentence, imposed by the Honorable D. Lowell Jensen, Mr. Elmore will serve a ten-year term of supervised release following release from prison. In addition, Mr. Elmore will be required to register as a sex offender.
The investigation, part of the Justice Department’s Project Safe Childhood, is a result of the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department, and the Charleston, South Carolina Police Department.
