Orrick Strengthens Greater China Team in Shanghai with Corporate Partner Specializing in Emerging Technology Sector

LawFuel.com – 22 August, 2009 – Hong Kong – International law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP (Orrick) announces that Tom Tobiason has moved from Silicon Valley to the firm’s Shanghai office where he will lead Orrick’s U.S.-China and Asia-wide emerging companies practice.

With many years of experience based in Silicon Valley, Tom’s practice covers venture capital, M&A and private equity. He represents emerging growth and technology companies, venture capitalists and investment banks in the U.S. and Asia. His clients include companies in a number of growth industries, including cleantech, Internet, online gaming, digital media, wireless/mobile, semiconductor and life sciences industries.

Tom received a B.A. from Brown University (magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) in 1988. He received a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1992 (Order of the Coif, magna cum laude), where he was a member of the University of Michigan Law Review. Tom clerked for the Honorable Anthony J. Scirica, Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Tom joined Orrick as a partner in early 2005.
