Paris, 9th November – LAWFUEL – Law firm, law, legal, attorney news – The partners of Baker & Mckenzie SCP (Paris) have elected Laurent Epstein as the new Managing Partner of the Paris office. He succeeds Eric Lasry who has held this position since the 1st July 2003 and was elected, last month to the global Executive Committee.

A graduate of HEC and l’Universite de Droit Paris X, Laurent Epstein has a graduate degree in Accounting and a Masters of Law from Temple Law School in Philadelphia. A member of the Paris Bar since 1982, he joined the Paris office of Baker & McKenzie in 1983 and became a partner in 1990. During his time with the firm, he has developed a practice in Mergers & Acquisitions and has particular expertise in advising both French and international corporations. He also specialises in advising clients who are involved in the Pharmaceutical industry. Going forward, he will take on the role of Managing Partner of the Paris office. Denise Broussal, also a partner, has been elected as co-manager with Laurent Epstein and will primarily be responsible for representing the Paris office on the various internal international committees of the firm.

Eric Lasry is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, has a degree in Company law from the University of Paris and a Doctorate from the Chicago Kent College of Law. A member of both the Paris and Illinois Bars, he joined the Paris office of Baker & McKenzie in 1985 and became a partner in 1993. A lawyer in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group from 1985 to 1988, he joined the Chicago office in 1989. In 1997 he returned to Paris and has been Head of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group since that time. Managing Partner of the Paris office since 2003, he will now serve as a member of the Executive Committee. Comprising eight partners, this Committee is responsible for devising the strategy and development of the global firm, which today consists of 69 offices in 38 countries
