From Las Vegas to Manukau - The Recent PDS Appointment include Vegas Event ManagerThe Manukau Public Defence Service had seven new lawyers join the team recently and are very proud to introduce them, starting with Xavier Hall (pictured, left) and Kima Tuialii who the PDS announced via social media.

Xavier Hall has recently been admitted to the Bar and is a Supervised Provider at Manukau PDS. Xavier has had 12 months’ experience working in professional legal services, Deloitte, the Human Rights Commission and the Waitematā Community Law Service.

Xavier has been a self-employed events contractor and has been overseas working in Las Vegas as an Event Manager and MC speaking to crowds of up to 2,000 people, 5 nights a week.

The new Legal Team Manager is Kima Tuialii. Kima has recently returned home from Sydney, Australia where she was leading a team of investigators and junior solicitors for the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care of Faith Based Institutions. Kima has an impressive background. She is an experienced and talented lawyer, a former Senior Solicitor (Crown Prosecutor) at Meredith Connell and Crown Prosecutor at Kayes Fletcher Walker with approximately four years’ prosecution experience. Prior to that, Kima was an Evaluating Lawyer with the Serious Fraud Office and Legal Counsel with the New Zealand Customs Service.

The Public Defence Service (PDS) is a service funded by the Ministry of Justice and is the largest criminal law practice in New Zealand, specialising in criminal legal aid work, as well as providing duty lawyers for people appearing in courts.
