They join the firm in Seattle from Bennett Bigelow & Leedom.
“Perkins Coie has been working with clients in the healthcare industry for many years now but with the addition of David, Anne, Renee and their group, we are elevating and broadening our service to healthcare clients,” said Robert Giles, Firmwide Managing Partner. “The Healthcare Industry Group now includes more than 35 attorneys and spans seven offices and six practice groups across the firm. We are looking forward to expanding the healthcare practice to stay ahead of the many regulatory and business challenges faced by the industry.”
The Healthcare Industry Group serves as legal counsel to clients located in all sectors of the healthcare industry, including hospitals, academic medical centers, physician practices, pharmacies, imaging centers, medical device and supply manufacturers and distributors, behavioral health providers, long-term care facilities, medical suppliers and individual practitioners.
The group represents clients on clinical, business, litigation, real estate, reimbursement, regulatory and compliance matters, including those related to fraud, antitrust, scientific integrity, health care reform and health information privacy and security. Healthcare attorneys advise clients with regard to day-to-day operational issues and provide guidance with structuring industry-specific transactions and contractual arrangements, including managed care agreements. The group will assist with developing policies and procedures and provide counsel on a variety of laws and regulations affecting the healthcare industry, including HIPAA, HITECH, Stark and Anti-Kickback laws.
“We are thrilled to join Perkins Coie and launch the Healthcare Industry Group,” said Robbins who will serve as Firmwide Chair for the Healthcare Industry Group. “Perkins Coie has the outstanding lawyers and resources to provide great service and assistance to our healthcare clients.”
Howard, Robbins and Grimm represent clients in litigation and government investigations involving healthcare finance, reimbursement and regulatory compliance, including false claims, anti-kickback, physician self-referral, antitrust, scientific misconduct and health care licensing and certificate of need issues. Redman and Anderson counsel clients in business transactions, health law regulatory compliance and the structuring of health ventures and organizations.
Earlier this year, Perkins Coie added Jim Carroll, Dan Coyne and Christine Biebel in Chicago as national healthcare finance practice attorneys that specialize in the representation of healthcare and other nonprofit organizations in their financial transactions.
