BALTIMORE, MD February 19, 2013 – The law firm Ober|Kaler announced today that Kelly M. Preteroti, a lawyer in the firm’s Litigation and Employment Groups, has been named to the Board of Directors of Baltimore Fitness Academy (BMoreFit).
BMoreFit provides youth and adults with physical fitness skills for lifelong, healthy living. It’s signature initiative is the BMoreFit Kit, a program designed for Baltimore City teachers to facilitate fitness breaks for their students with the goal of impacting childhood obesity, improving the health and well-being of students, enhancing students’ focus and attention in the classroom, and strengthening students’ academic performance. BMoreFit was founded in 2007 by Open Society Institute Fellow Jon Kaplan, who formed the group to create a sense of community and purpose through fitness among disadvantaged children in Baltimore.
“I am very excited to be a part of BMoreFit, as it combines my passion for fitness and working with children,” says Kelly. “Too many schools are doing away with physical education due to constrained budgets. This severely impacts our children’s health and ability to focus and learn. The work we do on behalf of our city’s children makes a difference not only to their physical wellness, but to their emotional well-being and assists their teachers in preparing them for professional opportunities as adults.”
Active in the community, Kelly served as General Counsel for the Baltimore Junior Association of Commerce from 2007-2011, and in 2008, she was honored with the Ober|Kaler Pro Bono Distinguished Service Award.
Kelly was listed as a Rising Star in Maryland Super Lawyers in 2012 and 2013.
