PRINCETON NJ – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Carrie J. Di Santo, a partner of Baker & McKenzie, Chicago, has joined Midi’s Law and Business Ethics Advisory Board, according to an announcement from Elizabeth Tomaszewicz, president and chief executive officer of Midi, who “is delighted Carrie Di Santo is joining Midi’s prestigious legal advisory board whose members review courses for legal accuracy.”

Ms. Di Santo concentrates her practice in corporate compliance, cross-border counseling and litigation. She advises publicly held companies and other organizations on legal compliance issues, particularly relating to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) and non-U.S. anti-corruption laws, anti-money laundering, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and other criminal laws having extraterritorial effect.

Ms. Di Santo has represented companies and individuals in criminal investigations and internal corporate investigations relating to the FCPA and other criminal matters. She has been involved in several major US Department of Justice and US Securities & Exchange Commission investigations and prosecutions in the United States, Canada and the EC. She recently represented the controller of a publicly-held company in an SEC enforcement action based on fraud in revenue recognition and a former executive in a DOJ FCPA prosecution. She was involved in representing the foreign member firm of a U.S. accounting company in the first-ever FCPA action jointly brought by the DOJ and the SEC.

Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie in 1997, Ms. Di Santo served as a law clerk for the Honorable William J. Bauer, former Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She regularly writes and speaks on a number of corporate compliance and criminal law topics.

Ms. Di Santo is admitted to practice law in Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School, Notre Dame, IN (J.D., magna cum laude, May 1996). She was the lead articles editor for the Notre Dame Law Review from 1995 to 1996. Ms. Di Santo earned her Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL (B.A., English/Music Theory, summa cum laude, May 1993), Phi Beta Kappa.
