RICHMOND, Va. – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – James P. McElligott, a partner in the Richmond office of McGuireWoods LLP, has been named co-chair of the Benefit Claims and Individual Rights Subcommittee of the Employee Benefits Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law.

As co-chair, McElligott’s duties include supervision and editing of the Mid-Winter Report on Employee Retirement Income Security Act Benefit Claims and Individual Rights, and editing chapter 13 of the 2006 supplement to Employee Benefits Law, 2nd edition, published by BNA.

At McGuireWoods, McElligott handles employment, executive compensation and benefit related matters for private and publicly held corporations and public agencies. He has advised and defended employers, benefit plans, and fiduciaries concerning employment, compensation and benefit issues. He is a former chairman of the Employment Law Committee of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, and a former president of the Federal Bar Association’s Richmond chapter.
