SAINT LOUIS, July 30, 2004 –Read today’s legal news, law firm news and law research at LAWFUEL Doug Stanley has joined the international law firm of Bryan Cave LLP as an attorney in its St. Louis office. Stanley will be a member of the firm’s Private Client Group, which engages in sophisticated personal estate and tax planning, probate and trust administration, business succession planning and related legal services for family and individual clients.
For the past 13 years, Stanley has concentrated his practice in the area of wealth transfer tax planning as well as probate and tax controversy work. He has extensive experience in individual estate administration, closely held business succession planning and asset protection. Previously an officer at Greensfelder Hemker & Gale, Stanley also has supervised business sales, including the sale of family owned business entities, business purchases and entity taxation issues.
Stanley has developed numerous estate plans that have included revocable trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, partnerships, limited liability companies, irrevocable defective grantor trusts, private annuities and self-canceling installment notes. He routinely negotiates and prepares prenuptial and postnuptial agreements to coordinate with estate planning goals. Additionally, he has represented clients in estate administration disputes in local courts, during IRS audits and in the U.S. Tax Court.
Stanley received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1991, where he is an adjunct professor in the LL.M. tax program, and his B.A. from the University of Central Arkansas in 1985. He is licensed in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas.
