Samuel H. Pond, Esq., partner in the law firm of Martin, Banks, Pond, Lehocky & Wilson has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Federation of Injured Workers (PFIW) Board of Directors.
Samuel H. Pond has been practicing in the area of workers’ compensation since 1986. Mr. Pond has successfully tried a broad spectrum of workers’ compensation cases. Mr. Pond is a frequent author and lecturer on workers’ compensation, having co-authored the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Law Manual, Advanced Workers’ Compensation in Pennsylvania, Occupational Stress Under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act and a nationally published “Independent Contractor Status, a State by State Legal Guide.”
He is also the co-author of the 2004 update of the Workers’ Compensation Barbieri Manual.
Mr. Pond is frequently asked to speak at insurance, employer and medical society seminars and meetings to provide the injured worker’s perspective. He also provides continuing legal education and has spoken on numerous occasions at the request of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Philadelphia Bar Association, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Associations, and the Judge Manager for Workers’ Compensation Judges in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Mr. Pond was the Co-Chair of the Education and Ethics
Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section from 1993 to 1997 and a member of the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section from 1997 to 2000 when he organized its implementation.
Mr. Pond was the Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar
Association Workers’ Compensation Section in 1998. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and served as their 2001-2003 fund raising coordinator. Mr. Pond is currently the Vice President of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and was the 2002 recipient of the President’s Award for his tireless efforts supporting the enactment of progressive legislation in the battle to protect the rights of the innocent and injured.
