SAN FRANCISCO, August 3, 2004 Read today’s legal news, law, law firm news & legal research articles at LAWFUEL Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced today that Jim Black, previously head of the San Francisco office of Perkins Coie, has joined Orrick as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice group, resident in San Francisco.

Black’s practice emphasizes technology licensing, wireless and telecommunications transactions, and general corporate matters on behalf of Fortune 500 technology, telecommunications and retail companies, as well as emerging growth companies. He is a frequent lecturer on licensing and online publishing.

Commenting on Black’s arrival, Ralph Baxter, Orrick’s chairman and CEO, said, “Jim’s broad-based corporate practice and technology focus is a great strategic fit for Orrick. He adds depth and breadth to our corporate practice while complementing our widely recognized strengths in finance and litigation.”

Two corporate partners have joined Orrick in as many weeks. In addition to Black, Peter Sternberg joined Orrick’s New York office in late July from Jones Day. At Orrick, Sternberg will continue to focus his practice on international transactions.
