SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.–LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Karl J. Sleight, former executive director of the New York State Ethics Commission, and now a partner of law firm Harris Beach PLLC, encouraged leaders of the horse racing industry to follow a set of best practices to ensure the sport’s future success.

Mr. Sleight said: “The future success of the horse racing industry in the 21st Century will be directly dependent on the level of commitment by the leaders of the industry. Failure to implement achievable best practices will contribute to a long term demise of the ‘sport of kings.’” Mr. Sleight’s comments were made during the Saratoga Institute on Racing and Gaming Law, held August 7, 2007 in Saratoga Springs, New York. Mr. Sleight served as a moderator on the topic: “Ethics Integrity in Racing: A Multi-Disciplinary Approach.”
