John Bergin Brings Substantial Commercial Litigation and Construction Practice Experience to Boutique Washington, D.C. Firm

WASHINGTON, DC – May 22 2011 – Enhancing its already thriving and highly regarded Construction Law and Trial practices and adding experienced and dynamic leadership, Shapiro, Lifschitz & Schram, P.C. announces John T. Bergin has joined the firm as Vice President and Senior Counsel.

Bergin, who also focuses his practice in government contracts and complex commercial litigation, comes from a top-tier global law firm and brings a tremendous level of experience and passion to the firm. He has navigated more than 50 jury and bench trials to verdict both in federal and state courts. In addition to representing clients in a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters, Bergin also represents clients on private and public construction projects. This includes Major League Baseball and National Football League stadiums, power plants, schools, hospitals and other types of projects both in the United States and abroad. Most recently, he obtained a complete defense verdict after a six-week trial on more than $20 million of claims against a national construction-management firm resulting from the construction of a professional sports stadium.

Bergin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Catholic University of America and his Juris Doctor from the American University Washington College of Law. He is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar, the Maryland Bar, and the Virginia Bar.
