Sheffield – LAWFUEL – DLA Piper trainee solicitor Robyn Palmer has been awarded the Sidney Herbert Clay (Sheffield) Trust (1940) Prize by the Sheffield District Incorporated Law Society at their annual general meeting.
The annual award of £150 is presented to the most successful candidate on the Diploma in Legal Practice who undertakes their training contract with a law firm within 20 miles of Sheffield.
Award assessors chose Robyn (26), who graduated from the course in June 2006, as the worthy winner after she picked up five distinctions in modules including Business Law and Practice, Property Law and Practice, Litigation, Commercial Property and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Robyn’s award follows two other prizes from the University of Sheffield. As a Law and Spanish student she won the Vaughan Bevan Memorial Award for her exceptional performance in the final Law exam¬ination and also the Nicholas Round Prize in Hispanic Studies to recognise her outstanding performance in practical interpreting skills.
Robyn, who is currently based in the real estate group at DLA Piper in Sheffield, said: “I am honoured to have won this award and delighted to be training in the city with one of the most respected legal providers in the region.”
