Sidley Austin LLP Adds Three Lawyers to the Firm’s Executive Committee

Chicago and New York – Sidley Austin LLP has added three partners to its Executive Committee, the Committee that exercises general authority over the affairs of the firm.
The new appointments to the Executive Committee, which bring the current count to 45 members, are:
Samir A. Gandhi (New York) – Mr. Gandhi, a partner since 2002, focuses his practice on private equity transactions and capital markets offerings. He represents domestic and foreign fund sponsors, investment banks and other private investors in their private equity and venture capital activities and regularly represents investors, including private investment funds, in foreign direct investment transactions oriented towards Asia. Additionally, Mr. Gandhi has extensive experience in advising private equity investors and sellers in a broad range of asset classes, including infrastructure, sports, retail, entertainment and financial institutions. He represents a number of Asian investors, particularly Indian funds active abroad.
Michael P. Goldman (Chicago) – Mr. Goldman, a global coordinator of the firm’s insurance practice and a partner since 2000, focuses his practice on the corporate representation of insurance companies and other insurance entities, with a focus on acquisitions, divestitures and corporate reorganizations (including demutualization and mutual holding company conversions); the formation, capitalization and corporate financing of insurance companies and related ventures; the regulation of insurance holding company systems; the regulation of insurance company investment practices, including the use of derivative instruments and strategies; the structure and regulation of alternative risk financing mechanisms and complex reinsurance arrangements, including insurance securitization and derivatives, loss portfolio transfers and commutations; the structure of unique marketing and insurance distribution systems; and captive insurance companies, risk retention groups and other alternative market mechanisms.
Myles C. Pollin (New York) – A partner since 1991, Mr. Pollin focuses his practice on capital markets and corporate transactions, including structured finance, funds, corporate finance and restructurings. Mr. Pollin is co-head of the firm’s New York structured finance and securitization practice and one of the coordinators of the firm’s task force on restructurings and distressed investing activities. Mr. Pollin’s structured finance practice includes CLOs, other repackagings and asset backed commercial paper financings. Mr. Pollin’s funds practice includes representing managers of hedge funds and private equity-style funds and lenders to funds. Mr. Pollin’s experience also includes a broad variety of corporate transactions, and his practice includes mergers and acquisitions, securities issuances, lending transactions and corporate restructuring transactions.
