Simon Benedek joins Oppenheim one of Hungary’s Leading Law Firms

Budapest, 11 August 2008 (LAWFUEL) – Oppenheim, one of Hungary’s leading law firms, has announced today that Simon Peter Benedek (41) joined Oppenheim as counsel. Benedek will be focusing his efforts at the firm on banking and finance. Before joining Oppenheim, Benedek was seconded to the Budapest office of the US law firm of White & Case, where he acted for a number of banks, developers and international investors in the Hungarian property market.

Prior to White & Case, Benedek was a member of Counsel in the Property/Banking/Asset Finance Department of offshore legal services firm Appleby between 2005 and 2007. Before that, he was a Senior Solicitor at the Banking/Property Finance department of the British law firm Davies Arnold Cooper between 2000 and 2005. At these firms Benedek accumulated substantial experience in British and international banking transactions, property finance transactions, property/corporate joint ventures and general commercial property transactions.

Benedek began his career as a trainee solicitor with Wilde Sapte in 1994. His trainee seats included Tax, Banking Litigation, Banking, Property and Commercial Litigation. He qualified as a solicitor in 1996 in Wilde Sapte’s Banking Litigation department and subsequently moved to the Property Finance Department.

Benedek graduated from the University of Liverpool and was awarded a first class degree in law (LLB (Hons)) in 1993. He continued his education at the Chester College of Law, where he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice with distinction in 1994. Benedek subsequently went on to earn a Masters (LLM) degree at University College, London in 1999.

Benedek was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1996. He has also been appointed as a solicitor in the British Virgin Islands (2005) and as a barrister in Bermuda (2006).

Benedek is a British citizen. In his free time Benedek enjoys golf and chess.
