Sullivan & Worcester Names Arinze Onugha as 2018 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity

New York and Boston, March 7, 2018 – International law firm Sullivan & Worcester LLP is pleased to announce that Arinze Onugha, an associate in the firm’s New York office, has been named a 2018 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).

“Arinze exemplifies the best of Sullivan & Worcester in terms of professionalism and commitment to strengthening our firm’s diverse culture,” said Joel Carpenter, managing partner of Sullivan & Worcester. “I have no doubt he will excel in the LCLD program and generously share what he learns with his colleagues and leaders of the firm.”

The LCLD Fellows Program is an intensive, year-long professional development program for attorneys identified by their organization as future leaders, both at that organization and in the legal industry. The Program provides an instructional plan that includes in-person conferences, training in the fine points of legal practice and leadership, peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership, including the managing partners and general counsel. Sullivan & Worcester has had participants in the program for the past two years, with DC-based partner Nicole Crum representing the firm in 2017 and Boston-based partner Ashley Brooks in 2016. New York City-based partner Darwin Conner is also a former LCLD Fellow and currently sits on the LCLD Fellows Alumni Executive Committee.

“I am honored to have been selected for the LCLD Fellows program and am looking forward to building relationships with my LCLD peers and participating in exceptional leadership training sessions,” said Onugha, whose practice in the Corporate group is primarily focused on representing institutions investing in private equity and venture capital funds. “This is a career game-changer that will help foster my development as an effective leader, not just within the walls of Sullivan & Worcester, but beyond. I am certain that what I take away from this important year will result in my becoming a better contributor to the legal profession, from being able to establish new best practices on how to better serve clients to implementing methods to tackle the incredibly pressing challenge of having true diversity among attorneys at all levels of the profession.”

In addition to his being named a 2018 LCLD Fellow, Onugha is on the New York University Law School Board of Directors and has previously been recognized by the Jackie Robinson Foundation as one of its “42 under 40” Distinguished Alumni. Mr. Onugha received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School (cum laude).
