19 May 2026, Auckland, New Zealand – Sundaresh Thangavelu has been recognised by the New Zealand Law Society Property Law Section Ngā Rōia Ture Rawa as one of its four Rising Stars in 2026. The recognition acknowledges exceptional technical ability in property law, standout client service, and future leadership in the profession.

Sundaresh is an associate in DLA Piper’s Real Estate team in New Zealand. He is recognised for advising domestic and international clients on high-value and complex commercial real estate transactions, leasing, development projects, property due diligence and Māori land law. Sundaresh advises iwi organisations and local bodies on real estate asset structuring, Māori land utilisation, public infrastructure and development matters.

Sundaresh’s recent matters include advising on a cross-border NZD160 million acquisition of an IHG-operated hotel in Auckland’s CBD.
