Taylor Wessing advised Aureos Capital, the leading manager of SME private equity funds in the developing world, on the creation of and fundraising for three new funds. The funds total $107.5 million in value and will be invested in the SME sector in the South Africa, East Africa and West Africa regions.

With African businesses in severe need of risk capital, these funds will provide equity and quasi-equity to local companies, with transactions ranging from US$500,000 to US$4 million. Deal types will include expansions, change of control transactions, regional roll-outs, and consolidations across a wide range of sectors.
