The Institute of Retail Management, a sub division of Oxford University’s Business School, has recently announced it will be offering scholarships for a development program aimed at senior owners and managers in retail. The scholarships are valued at ￡2000 each and will allow the trainee attend the Oxford Retail Masters Forum, held at Oxford University from 28th – 31st March 2011. A total of eight scholarships will be offered to owners and managers of retail businesses with fewer than 1,000 employees.
Nigel J L Rothband, the chief executive of Retail Trust said that although the Forum is open to retailers of all sizes, the scholarships are restricted only to small businesses.

, the first confirmed keynote speaker is Anthony Preston, former owner of Pets at Home. Pets at home began as a small business and it was recently sold for ￡955 million. Recently, the Managing Director of UK Knack Group commented that this is a great opportunity for all the managers and owners of small businesses who want to learn new skills or refresh their knowledge.
Included in the scholarships will be four days of training, accommodation, meals and refreshments.
