(TOKYO) August 3, 2005 – International law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP has strengthened its energy team in Tokyo with the addition of Paul D. Fredrick, who joins as Of Counsel with the firm.

Fredrick’s practice involves the representation of clients in international mergers and acquisitions, energy matters and project development and finance transactions. He has worked on oil and gas projects including the acquisition and disposal of assets and cross-border pipeline projects in Asia, the Caspian, the Middle East, Africa and Australia.

For the past seven years, Fredrick served as General Counsel for ITOCHU Oil Exploration Co. in Tokyo. He has also worked for major law firms in San Francisco, Honolulu and Tokyo. Fredrick graduated from DePauw University, B.A., in 1983, and Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, J.D. cum laude, in 1987.
