NEW YORK, April 16, 2009 — Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, LLP announced today that Andrew J. Rossman will join the firm’s New York office as a partner. Rossman was formerly a partner in the New York office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP where he served as co-head of the firm’s litigation group.
Rossman has extensive experience in trying complex commercial matters and appeals, including bankruptcy litigation, private securities and other shareholder lawsuits and international dispute resolution. He has represented private equity firms, hedge funds, public companies, officers and directors and creditors’ committees in state and federal courts and arbitral tribunals across the country.

Rossman recently argued before the United States Supreme Court for the Manhattan Democratic Party in Lopez Torres v. New York State Board of Elections and won a unanimous decision establishing the constitutionality of New York’s convention system for electing Justices of the New York State Supreme Court.

Rossman’s addition follows on the heels of the retention of derivatives specialist Daniel Cunningham who will join Quinn Emanuel later in the spring.
Rossman graduated from Harvard Law School and Princeton University. He serves on the Council for Judicial Administration of the New York City Bar.
