Vinson & Elkins’ Client Energy Corporate of America Wins “Energy Deal of the Year” at the ACG New York Champion’s Awards

HOUSTON (July 27, 2011) — ECA Marcellus Trust I’s IPO was awarded “Energy Deal of the Year” by The M&A Advisor and ACG New York at the 2011 ACG New York Champion’s Awards at the gala held in June. The award recognized V&E’s involvement as advisor to Energy Corporation of America (“ECA”) in the completion of the initial public offering of 8,802,500 of ECA’s common units.

V&E advised ECA which sponsored the ECA Marcellus Trust I. ECA is a privately held exploration, development and production company. The initial public offering was completed in July 2010 with total gross proceeds of $176,050,000. The publicly traded royalty trust consisted of 14 producing horizontal Marcellus Shale wells and 52 additional horizontal Marcellus wells to be drilled over four years, all located in Greene County, Pennsylvania.

The annual awards recognize and honor the New York region’s top M&A transactions, leading law firms, professional services firms, and the market’s deal-makers whose activities set the standard for the industry. Finalists’ transactions had to close between April 1, 2010 and March 30, 2011 and exceed $5 million in transaction value. Results are determined by an independent body of experts that span the M&A industry.
