Smith was selected as one of twelve “Outstanding Hospital Lawyers — 2004” by Nightingale’s Healthcare News. Mr. Smith was selected from a pool of national hospital lawyer nominations submitted by colleagues and clients.
Mr. Smith is a member of Ober|Kaler’s Health Law Department and practices in the firm’s Washington D.C. office. He focuses on general corporate matters and employment and labor law issues in a health care setting.
Before entering private practice in 2003, Mr. Smith was Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Dimensions Health Corporation.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Maryland State Bar, American Bar, and Prince George’s Bar Associations. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Health Lawyers Association, American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and is active with the Maryland Hospital Association Legislative Workgroup.
Mr. Smith is a former president and current board member of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce. He sits on the board of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Prince George’s County Arts Council.
A native of Prince George’s County, Mr. Smith earned his B.A. in 1977 from the University of Maryland and his J.D. in 1980 from the University of Maryland School of Law.
Mr. Smith lives in Beltsville, Maryland.
