WESTON, Fla., Aug. 25, 2004 LAWFUEL – Best for law, law news, legal news, law articles Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI – News), a leading provider of Web-based payroll and workforce management solutions, announced today that the law firms of Faegre & Benson LLP, Gray Plant Mooty, and Rider Bennett, LLP, have selected Ultimate Software’s UltiPro Workforce Management.

Faegre & Benson is one of the 100 largest law firms in the United States, with offices in Minnesota, Colorado, Iowa, London, Frankfurt, and Shanghai. Since purchasing its previous solution, Faegre & Benson has nearly doubled in size to 1,100 employees, and the firm wanted a system with Web functionality that would empower its people to enter their own hours via the Web. Faegre & Benson purchased UltiPro in May 2004 and plans to use the solution’s eTimesheet feature to free up administrative staff, reduce data entry, and improve accuracy. With eTimesheet, managers can approve the timesheets entered by their staff before the hours are submitted to payroll for processing.

“We are looking forward to having our timesheets online to help us automate what has been a very manual process,” said Pat Manalo, director of human resources for Faegre & Benson. “We were impressed not only with UltiPro’s Web functionality, but also with the good things we heard from other UltiPro users. We anticipate seeing many efficiencies from the system.”

Another firm based in the Midwest, Gray Plant Mooty is the oldest continuing law practice in Minneapolis, founded in 1866. It selected UltiPro in April 2004 to curtail its reliance on paper, thereby reducing costs and creating efficiencies. The firm plans to store commonly used workforce-related documents on the portal so that employees can access information and perform basic HR and payroll tasks without a paper chase. Gray Plant Mooty purchased UltiPro in April 2004, and its director of finance, Robyn Gray, expressed her expectation for increased productivity.

“We look forward to using the UltiPro portal, including online benefits enrollment and self-service for employees and managers, to help us migrate toward a paperless environment,” said Gray. “By making the most of the Web to streamline processes, we will be able to reduce administrative costs and improve service to employees.”

Rider Bennett, LLP, provides legal services in more than 50 areas of practice and plans to maximize the efficiency of its human resources operations with UltiPro. The firm has been struggling with a payroll service bureau that lacks the in-depth human resources functionality to automate many of Rider Bennett’s workforce management processes. The law office wanted a solution that didn’t require imports, exports, or reconciliation. Rider Bennett selected Ultimate Software’s hosted service model, Intersourcing, in July for cost-effective access to consolidated HR and payroll functionality.

“We wanted a truly integrated HR/payroll solution rather than a payroll system with an add-on HR piece like we’ve been offered in the past. UltiPro provides strong HR and payroll capabilities in one consolidated solution that we believe will help us manage our workforce as efficiently as possible while ensuring data integrity and accurate point-in-time reporting,” said Rider Bennett Director of Finance Jodie Severson. “Intersourcing makes financial sense to us because we don’t need to purchase a license or manage the system

ourselves–Ultimate Software provides those services. All in all,
Intersourcing was a very attractive option for us.”

“These three businesses are just a sampling of the increasing number of larger law firms selecting UltiPro to empower their workforces and improve their HR processes,” said Greg Swick, senior vice president of sales for Ultimate Software.
