Lawyers are interested in many things, prestige being one of them. And so to identify the most prestigious law firm in America takes relatively little guessing.

The Vault 100 rankings identify Cravath as the #1 law firm that most captures that ‘prestige’ factor in the hearts of lawyers. And, as if money was ever a second-best in the ‘top law firm’ thinking of lawyers, it was also the law firm that’s ‘Cravath Scale’ has seen associate salary levels go up to $415,000 in February 2022.

Cravaths retained their position in the top spot, with Skadden Arps taking the second place, moving Wachtell Lipton out of the way to claim the position.

“Cravath is the standard against which all other firms measure themselves, with the firm securely atop the Vault Law 100 year after year and also within the top 10 of multiple practice area rankings. Cravath moves, and other firms follow,” said Travis Whitsitt, the Vault editor responsible for the law firm rankings.
