One of Washington’s top divorce lawyers, Glenn C Lewis, has found himself disbarred for charges of mismanagement of client funds and dishonesty, ending the career of a man who was once at the pinnacle of the divorce lawyer community.

A former president of the Virginia Bar Association, Lewis was handed the decision by the Virginia State Bar disciplinary council Friday after a hearing before four lawyers and one non-lawyer in Richmond. Lewis did not testify during the hearing, but he did address the panel before his punishment was pronounced, said Alexandria lawyer Ben DiMuro, who was a witness in the case. Lewis can appeal the ruling.
The Washington Post reported he once said that he was the most expensive lawyer in the region, charging $850 per hour for his services. In 2004, the Virginia State Bar’s family law section gave him a lifetime achievement award.
