Jonathan Woodhams is nominally the Executive Director of litigation funder LPF Group, but his power lies more in his position helping to select and direct some of the most significant, civil litigation in New Zealand.

Working closely with a high powered board at the Funder, including former Supreme Court Justice Bill Wilson QC, fellow director and Power List member Phil Newland, high profile former liquidator Michael Stiassny and former Shareholders Association chief Bruce Sheppard, he has helped run major cases that have hit the headlines.

Among the recent claims are the now settled claim against David Henderson’s property group and liquidators CoopersPriceWaterhouse, who settled a major claim funded by the company.

Generally handling claims of at least $5 million, Jonathan Woodhams is a key counsel selector who can pick and choose those lawyers who will handle the work, placing him in a position of significant influence.

With a background in both corporate life and the law (a former Russell McVeagh and Slaughter and May lawyer) he has also operated as general counsel running commercial operations and continues to help run LPF Group at the litigation coal face.
