9 May – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Blake Dawson Waldron (BDW) received two awards for work on major projects at the Australian Legal Business Awards event held in Melbourne on 29 April.

The “Deals of the Year” Awards are made for the major deals and dealmakers in the Asia Pacific legal market during 2004. BDW won the Infrastructure Deal of the Year category for our work with Alinta on its acquisition of the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. The WA Business News also nominated the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline acquisition as its “2004 Deal of the Year”. The BDW team was led by Jon Carson.

We also won Project Finance Deal of the Year for the Guandong LNG Project where we acted for Australia LNG. This deal has been widely recognised as a milestone in project finance deals throughout Asia, also winning both Asiamoney’s and the IFLR Asia Awards’ – Best Project Finance Deal in Asia for 2004. It also ranked as one of the World’s Biggest Deals of 2004 by Project Finance International and Asia’s Top 20 Deals of 2004 by Asian Counsel.
