LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Linklaters continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to private equity with its new partner elections.
The London private equity funds team has been strengthened by the election of Nicola Hopkins and Edward Smith. Nicola and Ed each have significant experience in establishing and advising onshore and offshore private equity funds, for clients such as BC Partners, Terra Firma Capital Partners and ABN AMRO Infrastructure Capital Management.
Nicola’s practice also includes acting for a wide range of fund managers in both traditional and alternative assets markets, and Ed brings to the practice considerable experience in corporate finance and capital markets transactions, including listed funds.
This year’s elections also include Edouard Chapellier, based in Paris, whose practice includes the structuring and formation of French private equity funds for clients including AXA Private Equity, and Liz Conway in the London tax practice, who advises on the tax structuring of private equity funds and their associated carried interest and coinvestment schemes.
These elections continue the rapid growth of Linklaters’ international private equity funds practice, and follows the election in recent years of Alexander Vogt to head the practice in Frankfurt and Scott Bowie and Stephen Culhane in New York.
Jonathan de Lance-Holmes, head of the private equity funds practice, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Nicola and Ed, and the other new partners, to join in leading this growing practice. Their appointments demonstrate Linklaters’ commitment to the sector and enhance our ability to service our private equity clients across our global network.”
In London, Nicola and Ed’s appointment as partners in the private equity fund formation practice follows the recent lateral hires of Ian Bagshaw to the buyouts team and David Ereira to the leveraged finance practice.
