LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Google expects a copyright filter to be inplace on YouTube by September, according to a lawyer defending YouTube in Viacom’s $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit.

Wired Magazine reports that the lawyer told the judge that the filter would “hopefully” be on the site by September.

Wired’s Eliot Van Buskirk said any automated content removal system is going to make a lot of mistakes, and there’s bound to be a lot of tweaking still to do. “Even then, the result would be a dramatically different YouTube, without concert footage, toddlers dancing to music, unauthorized music videos and mash-ups, and so on,” he wrote.
