LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Former motivational speaker, Mr Christopher Philip Koch, has been committed to stand trial in the Melbourne County Court on charges brought by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
Mr Koch, of Hoppers Crossing in Victoria, faces charges relating to the promotion of an investment scheme between 1996 and 2000.
ASIC alleges Mr Koch dishonestly promoted an investment opportunity to some investors to gain a personal financial advantage. ASIC further alleges that this fictitious high-yielding scheme involved 16 people investing approximately $1,387,467.
Mr Koch was arrested in Auckland, New Zealand in December 2006 and extradited to Australia in January 2007.
The matter has been listed for a case conference at the Melbourne County Court on 22 November 2007.
The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions is prosecuting the matter.
