Scott Joins New York Office From Weil Gotshal; Heller Ehrman Creates New COO Post
(NEW YORK) October 15, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Heller Ehrman has announced that Brad Scott has joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer. As COO, a new senior staff position at Heller Ehrman, Scott will collaborate with the firm’s senior management team and focus on strategic planning and the optimization of the firm’s internal systems and resources. Scott will be based in Heller Ehrman’s New York office. He joins the firm from Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he was Executive Director for two years.
At Heller Ehrman, Scott will be part of the firm’s core management team. He will serve on the Executive and Policy Committees. He will advise on overall administrative functions and business operations, working closely with other senior staff, including Suzanne Hawkins, who joined Heller Ehrman in September as Chief of Practice Excellence. Scott’s responsibilities encompass those previously held by the firm’s former Executive Director, Phyllis Gardner, who retired in August.

Scott has more than 30 years of management experience. Prior to serving as Weil Gotshal’s Executive Director, he previously held positions as Weil Gotshal’s Chief Human Capital Officer and as Director, Associate Relations, where he contributed to initiatives resulting in significant improvements in associate satisfaction and diversity, which helped that firm attain a No. 2 ranking in The American Lawyer’s A-List. During Scott’s tenure at Weil Gotshal, he provided oversight to the firm’s 1,400-member staff, directed the firm’s business operations and managed an operating budget across that firm’s 20 offices.

Prior to joining Weil Gotshal, Scott spent four years with IBM, where, as a Senior Consultant and a Director of Organization and Leadership Consulting, he was responsible for driving organizational leadership with IBM’s senior executives. Before joining IBM, Scott served in the U.S. Army as a Commissioned Officer. Throughout his 20 years of service with the Army, he held various leadership and teaching roles, culminating in his position as a Director and Associate Professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y
Scott earned a master’s degree in Human Performance from the University of Illinois. He received a bachelor of science degree, concentrating in Nuclear Engineering, from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
